Steven Gerrard is the greatest Premier League player never to have won the title, right?
Despite his obvious greatness in the English top flight, Manchester United fans will never let him forget the fact he failed to lift the trophy during his 17-year career in Liverpool’s first-team.
United supporters watched Gerrard’s ‘slip’ against Chelsea on repeat as their bitter rivals threw the league away in 2013/14 – and now Paul Scholes has been caught appearing to take comfort in Stevie G’s misery.
Gerrard was asked about Jose Mourinho’s defensive tactics during the Red Devils’ goalless draw at Anfield at the weekend and Scholes’ reaction to his answer was priceless.
‘For somebody who hasn’t won the league I see at it more as clever management and tactically spot on if you go on to win it,’ the BT Sport pundit said ahead of United’s clash with Benfica.
Scholes, 11-time winner of the Premier Leaue, seemed to smirk as his former England team-mate raised the fact he never triumphed and the clip immediately went viral across Twitter.
We see you, Scholesy. Next time be a little more subtle.
