Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has been linked with the vacant job at Leicester City, is wanted by the Croatia national team.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Croatia Football Federation have approached the Italian about taking over.

It has been reported that the offer on the table would involve only the 2018 World Cup in Russia allowing him to move back into club management late next summer if he so wishes.

Zlatko Dalic is currently in charge of Croatia following the departure of Ante Cacic earlier this month due to a poor run of results.

Croatia finished second in the World Cup qualifying group and must now negotiate a play-off with Greece, for which Dalic is expected to remain in charge.

However, it has been reported that they want Ancelotti in the hotseat should they book their place at the tournament finals.

Ancelotti has been unemployed since he was sacked by Bayern Munich earlier this season and was spotted at Stamford Bridge during Chelsea's 3-3 draw against Roma on Wednesday.

He has been touted as a potential replacement for ex-Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare but he has reportedly distanced himself from that role.
