Manchester City continued their scintillating form with a 3-1 victory over Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday.

The win, which was secured thanks to goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Jesus, took City temporarily eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side fell away after a bright start to the 2016-17 campaign but have reached new heights during the early stages of the current season.

Winning ten of their 11 league games and also dominating their Champions League group, City appear to be destined for monumental success this term.

As has been their dominance, after 17 games in all competitions the side have already netted a staggering 52 goals, a record for a Premier League club since the 1992-93 campaign.

Speaking after the win, De Bruyne told Sky Sports: ‘We know Arsenal are a quality side but I think we contained them quite well.

‘We created more chances and the third goal came at a good time. We should also have scored the second one in the first half. We kept our composure well and it is a great win for us.

‘Obviously, it was great to score as it put us ahead and it’s always nice every time you score. Maybe we got the benefit from the referee but the penalty was the second one of its type in the game. He had to give a penalty.

‘The more you win, the more other teams want to beat you. It’s been a great start for us so let’s see what other games bring.’

Phil Neville, meanwhile, says City are playing on a ‘different level’ than anyone else in the Premier League right now.

‘City are like a runaway train at the moment,’ he said. ‘I think Manchester United are the only team that can catch them but if they don’t pick up the three points today, eight points is a big gap.

‘City are playing football on a different level from everyone else at the moment.’
