U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers deported a Salvadoran national wanted for an alleged murder in his home country. The man had previously been deported from the U.S. and received multiple criminal convictions stateside.

ICE Enforcement Removal Operation officers assigned to the Phoenix Field Office transported Alexander Jovel-Guillen, aka “El Crimen,” to law enforcement officials in El Salvador on Wednesday. Salvadoran law enforcement officers notified ICE on October 30, 2017, they had an outstanding warrant on the 23-year-old man for an aggravated murder that allegedly took place in their country.

U.S. Border Patrol agents initially arrested Jovel-Guillen after he illegally entered the U.S. from Mexico on October 26. During a records check, Border Patrol agents learned the Salvadoran national had previously been deported and has a lengthy criminal history. ICE officials stated Jovel-Guillen has convictions for possession of marijuana, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and hit and run.

Court records obtained by Breitbart Texas from Fairfax County, Virginia, reveal an arrest by the Reston Police in connection with a series of 60 thefts from autos that occurred over several weeks in early 2013. Prosecutors charged him, along with two other men, with Conspiracy to Commit Grand Larceny and possession of fraudulent identification.

“The return of this fugitive who was previously deported and who has a lengthy criminal history in the United States remains a top priority for ICE,” Phoenix ERO Field Office Director Henry Lucero said in a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas. “Those who believe they can evade justice by fleeing to the U.S. should be on notice – they will find no refuge here.”

Officials did not disclose if Jovel-Guillen is a member of any gang.

Jovel-Guillen is now in custody of law enforcement officials in El Salvador where he will face trial for the aggravated murder charge.
