Everyone just remain calm.

We know the rumours that Celebrations could soon contain Milky Way Crispy Rolls is very exciting. It’s a huge deal.

But don’t let your enthusiasm send you racing to your nearest Sainsbury’s just yet – there’s some stuff you need to know.

Rumours of a Celebrations change-up first started rumbling on Twitter, where people reported stumbling upon tubs of Celebrations containing Milky Way Crispy Rolls brought in by patients to hospital, and sharing photos of Christmas tree shaped Celebrations boxes with Crispy Rolls on the front.

Soon a few reports spread and everyone on Twitter was excitedly shouting about how Crispy Rolls were now in Celebrations… despite no hard, chocolate-y evidence to prove that this was true.

Here’s one initial suggestion that Milky Way Crispy Rolls had been added to Celebrations:

Patient just brought in a box of celebrations containing Milky Way crispy rolls ❤

And here’s the ensuing hysteria:

MILKY WAY CRISPY ROLLS ARE IN CELEBRATIONS OH MY GOD TALK TO ME

I HEARD THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE CELEBRATIONS NOW CONTAIN MILKY WAY CRISPY ROLLS??? I NEED CONFIRMATION PLEASE ??

Oh. My. God. They’ve put Milky Way Crispy Rolls in Celebrations!!!!

But something smells a little fishy.

First off, we’ve popped round to supermarkets in the are and haven’t spotted any of the ‘new’ tubs with Crispy Rolls on.

We’ve also checked online – nothing there, either.

Mars hasn’t issued any announcement about the addition, either, which seems suspicious. Surely the brand would be keen to promote an exciting update to their chocolate selection?

Once we took a closer look, the Crispy Rolls rumour is increasingly seeming like fake news… in the UK, anyway.

The first time reports of Milky Way Crispy Rolls in Celebrations boxes popped up was on 7 December. Before that date, however, you can spot plenty of tweets discussing the addition of Crispy Rolls in Germany.

'Celebrations' in Germany don't have Milky Ways. They have Milky Way Crispy Rolls. Devastated.

The tweet that’s been screenshotted and shared the most is that of @Baugeee, who wrote that she found the Crispy Roll Celebrations box in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Her tweet was posted on 5 December. It received more than 1,900 retweets. We’re pretty sure that people didn’t click in to the tweet, see the bit where @Baugeee mentioned that she was in Ljubljana, and then happily spread the news that all Celebrations now have Crispy Rolls instead of regular Milky Ways.

The plot goes deeper.

At first, the only pictures of Celebrations with Milky Rolls included in them had the words ‘neu im mix’ on the front of the box, next to an image of Crispy Rolls. This is German for ‘new in mix’, which, again, suggests that the Crispy Roll Celebrations are only in selected areas of Europe.

Then one photo began to spread, which suddenly said ‘new mix’ in English.

Look closely at this image, however, and you’ll notice something odd.

The Galaxy chocolates are not labeled as Galaxy chocolates. They’re labeled as Dove – which is what Galaxy is called in the US and in all other areas apart from the UK, the Isle of Man, India, and Ireland.

So this suggests that either the image has been poorly Photoshopped, or the box is from the US – where the packaging would be English but the chocolate would still be called Dove.

All of this evidence does not necessarily disprove that Milky Way Crispy Rolls have not, and will never be, added to Celebrations. It’s possible that the people tweeting about the new boxes have indeed discovered Crispy Roll Celebrations in the UK, but decided not to share a photo online. It’s possible that Mars could be rolling out Crispy Rolls in Celebrations in selected stores around the UK.

What we can say, though, is that there’s currently no solid evidence that there are Milky Way Crispy Rolls in Celebrations in the UK. There are no photos, no in-person sightings, and no announcement from Mars UK.

We’ve also called Mars to find out the truth, but as it’s a Saturday they haven’t answered. If they get back to us, we’ll update this story with confirmation. We will not rest until we know the truth.
