Local police officers in Colorado seized more than 200 pounds of marijuana and six pistols, all believed to belong to a Mexican cartel.

The seizure took place this week when officers with Colorado Springs Police’s Vice, Narcotics, and Intelligence unit received information about marijuana being stored at a home in rural El Paso County, information released by CSPD revealed.

With the help of El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies, authorities served a search warrant where they found 212 pounds of refined marijuana in various stages of packaging. The home also yielded six handguns; one of which had been reported stolen from a California law enforcement official earlier this year.

The case began when the property owner had gone to check on the renter after not being able to contact them via email or phone. Fearing that the lessee ill or worse, they went inside and found the reported packaging operation. According to Colorado Springs Police, the evidence found points to the drugs belonging to a Mexican drug cartel.
