Kevin Durant Donates A Whopping $10 Million To Help Maryland Students

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant is giving back to his hometown by donating $10 million to help Prince George’s County students go to college.
Durant partnered with Prince George’s County Public Schools and College Track in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, a program that helps disadvantaged students attend college, according to The Washington Post.
The 10-year program supports students beginning in ninth grade through college graduation, helping them to prepare for and deal with academic, financial and social stresses of college. College Track plans to open this year locally as the Durant Center, The Washington Post reports. It is one of the first three College Track facilities in the D.C. area.
“The Durant Center has been a dream of mine for a long time, excited to announce it’s finally happening in Prince George’s County with @CollegeTrack,” Durant wrote on Twitter.

The program was established with co-founders Laurene Powell Jobs and Carlos Watson after they discovered an education and qualification gap in East Palo Alto, California, for students eager to attend college who did not have the resume for admission into a state university.
Over the past 20 years, College Track has proven a success, and with the Durant Center, the D.C suburban area may see revitalization for disadvantaged students.
