Woman Credits Cop Who Arrested Her With Saving Her Life

A California woman who once struggled with drug addiction thanked the police officer who arrested her for helping her change her life earlier this week.

At least 10 years ago, Tiffany Hall was struggling with a drug addiction, and Lt. Jim Foster was the law enforcement officer taking her to jail frequently, ABC 7 reported. Now, Hall is on the verge of graduating college — a feat she credits Foster with for helping her turn her life around.

“I want to thank Lt. Jim Foster for his respect and his compassion and the empathy that he showed to me and anyone he came in contact with,” Hall said when the two reunited for the first time in years Wednesday.

Foster would constantly push for Hall to go to school, telling her she could do better even while he arrested her, the former crack addict said.

“She had a unique spirit,” Foster said. “She wasnt afraid to tell you like it was. She had a tough outer shell, but I could tell there was a soft inner person.”

The encouragement eventually worked, as Hall is now nine years clean and is graduating from Cal State Dominguez Hills in about a month. She plans to be a social worker and pursue her masters degree.

“I tell myself every day, Dont look back behind you, because theres nothing back there. Youve got to keep looking forward,'” Hall said.
