Milwaukee Bucks Favored To Hire The First Female Head Coach In NBA History

Oddsmakers have the Milwaukee Bucks hiring the first female head coach in NBA history.

The team plans to interview San Antonio Spurs assistant Becky Hammon, and oddsmakers have her at -145 to get the head coaching job. That means a bettor will have to wager $145 to get $100 back. Those are some pretty solid and favorable odds for Hammon.

Will the Milwaukee Bucks name Becky Hammon as their next head coach?

Yes -145
No +105

This would be a monumental and historic hire if the Bucks actually pull the trigger on making Hammon the first female head coach in NBA history.

I have a lot of feelings on women coaching major mens pro sports. On one hand, I think those who earn the respect of people in their field should be given a shot if theyve earned it. I think Hammon fits that description.

On the other hand, as somebody who has grown up in the sports world, I have some serious questions and concerns about a woman coaching in the NBA, MLB, NHL or NFL. Can a person who couldnt ever have played in the NBA be put in charge of grown men? I dont know, and Im not sure how smooth it would go. That would be an even bigger question if ever an NFL team were to hire a woman as head coach.

Part of me just wants Hammon to get hired to see what would happen. It would be a content machine for days.
