David Tepper, the man who just reportedly agreed to pay $2.2 billion for the Carolina Panthers, is a very vocal critic of President Trump.

Prior to the 2016 presidential election, he said in an interview with CNBC, “You have one person with questionable judgment and the other person may be demented, narcissistic and a scumbag. Not saying which ones which. You can make your own decision on that.”

David Teppers political candidness is going to start his ownership of the Panthers with a series of allies and a series of rivals. But unlike in politics, he cant get voted out for those views. Hes buying the team fair and square in a free market economy. https://t.co/peQdvHS5EP

He continued his attacks on Trump saying, according to Sports Illustrated, saying, “During the financial crisis, during Sandy, [Trump did] not [give] one dime, and I know this for fact—not conjecture—not one dime to one major food bank or one major pantry in Jersey during Sandy. You cant tell me this is a charitable, giving person. When you live in these places and you are living with your people and youre supposedly a multi-billionaire, and not one dime [donated] for the people in their greatest hour of need.”

According to the New York Post, Tepper donated to Jeb Bushs campaign, and then gave the Kasich campaign money when he was one of the last remaining opponents to Trump.

With the current climate between players, owners, and politics, it would not be surprising if Tepper gets involved when he officially buys the team.
