Chelsea held to topsy-turvy 3-3 draw by Roma in Champions League :-: abc net

Chelsea has been held to a 3-3 draw by Roma in their Champions League group stage match, in an enthralling contest at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were 2-0 up on the night thanks to goals from David Luiz and Eden Hazard, only for Roma to pull a goal back through Aleksandar Kolarov just before the break.

Roma was level midway through the second half when former Manchester City strike Eden Dzeko struck a superb left-footed volley on the run.

Dzeko then stunned the Bridge by putting Roma 3-2 up, guiding Diego Perotti's free kick in at the far post.

Chelsea, staring at a third consecutive defeat in all competitions, levelled through Hazard, who steered in Pedro's cross via his head.

Manchester United clinched a 1-0 win over Benfica thanks to Marcus Rashford's free kick, but the goal had a large helping hand from the goalkeeper.

Rashford's delivery was typically unerring, but Benfica keeper Svilar left it until the last minute to attempt the save, only catching the ball once it had already crossed the line.

In the night's other results, Barcelona cantered past Olympiakos 3-1 despite losing Gerard Pique to a red card, after the defender was deemed to have handled the ball in the process of putting the ball in the back of the net from a Gerard Deulofeu cross.

But goals to Lionel Messi and Lucas Digne, as well as a Dimitris Nikolaou own goal, sealed a characteristically breezy win for Barca.

Bayern Munich proved far too classy for Celtic in a 3-0 home win, while Juventus edged Sporting Lisbon 2-1.

Azerbaijani minnow Qarabag FK held Atletico Madrid to a 0-0 draw, while Paris Saint Germain thumped Anderlecht 4-0 away from home.

FC Basel also enjoyed a 2-0 away win over CSKA Moscow.
