New West Ham manager David Moyes has confirmed that talks are ongoing to add former Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce to his backroom staff.

The ex-Hammers defender has been linked with the position of assistant manager following the news that Moyes has replaced Slaven Bilic at the London Stadium.

However, 55-year-old Pearce, who also had a spell as caretaker England manager in 2012, exclusively told talkSPORT on Monday that he was not in contact with the club.

But Moyes says he hopes to confirm his backroom staff by the time he takes charge of his first West Ham game, away at Watford on November 19.

When asked if Pearce had been appointed, Moyes said: "It's not confirmed yet.

"I'm in talks with a couple of people, Stuart being one of them.

"Hopefully I will know by the end of next week."
