Schalke determined to keep contract rebel Leon Goretzka until the summer

Barcelona are favourites to secure the midfielder's signature

Schalke have no interest in selling Tottenham and Liverpool target Leon Goretzka this January – even though it means they will lose him for nothing in the summer.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season when he will be free to join any of the clubs currently interested in signing him.

Both Spurs and Liverpool are keen while Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also in the running to secure his signature.

It had been suggested that Schalke may look to cash in on him when the window opens in January to ensure they get some sort of fee for their star player instead of losing him on a free transfer.

But, according to reports in Spain, the Bundesliga club have no intention of flogging Goretzka midway through the season and will keep him until the end of his contract.

El Mundo Deportivo claims that Juventus were told that a January deal would not be possible and now the list of interested clubs are drawing up plans for a summer contract.

However the bad news for the interested Premier League clubs is that Goretzka reportedly has his heart set on a move to Barcelona – and not England.
