So touching (Picture: Stephen Cwiok)

We’ve all been there – you’ve gorged on fast food or eaten something that doesn’t agree with you and now you look six months pregnant.

But instead of a steadily growing foetus, all you’re brewing is a ball of gas or a little baby poo.

Most of us would just wait until it’s time to excrete our digestive babies but not Nick Roberts, who thought he’d make the most of his burgeoning belly after a particularly large McDonald’s binge.

The 26-year-old from Boston, USA decided to stage his own tongue-in-cheek maternity photoshoot after joking about it with a pal – made all the funnier by the fact he was actually about to become a father at the time.

The plumber recently shared the photos on Facebook, so everyone could see ‘the wonder of a father during pregnancy’.

‘Hey guys. So my girlfriend and I found out we were going to have a baby,’ he says in the Facebook post.

‘So one day my buddy Stephen came to me with the joking idea of doing a maternity shoot…featuring me. We rolled it around for a while, then decided it was best to go with it.

‘I felt it was only right to at least try to look a little pregnant, so we grabbed some McDonald’s and off we were.’

Nick says that the whole thing felt like a true pregnancy experience: ‘If I’m being completely honest, the setting, the occasion, the awful cramps from the double cheeseburgers, it all brought me so much closer to the pregnancy.

‘Now, I’ll never know what being in labour feels like, but I feel in my heart it can’t be too far away from eating a lot of fast food. I’m truly blessed to have had this eye-opening experience.’

He closed his post with the hashtags ‘#theresbeautyinallofus#livelaughlove#fitfam‘.

What a joker.

If you’re wondering what Nick’s McDonald’s order was, it was ‘Two McDoubles, a McChicken, a four-piece chicken nugget, two chocolate chip cookies, and a medium Dr Pepper’.

Nick told Unilad that he and his friend made a photo album of the shoot and stealthily unveiled it at the (real) baby’s gender reveal party.

‘We put the album on a table where nobody was sitting, walked away, grabbed a beer, sat down and waited,’ he said.

‘The album didn’t go unnoticed for very long. The first unassuming person approached the book as Stephen and I sat in the distance and watched, waiting to see their reaction.

‘It was everything we hoped it to be. As soon as they flipped the cover to the album, their head whipped back and hysterical laughter began! Not long after, people began to surround the table. Our mission was a success.’

Nick successfully gave birth to his food baby and his girlfriend Brianna gave birth to an actual baby back in October.

The called him Logan. Cute.
