Solaseed Air offers 2018 first sunrise flight on Jan 1

If you have been in Japan during New Year, you will have heard the word hatsuhinode (first sunrise) a lot. There are many great places to see the year’s first sunrise — from mountains, towers, building rooftops. But the most spectacular of all is from the air — aboard an aircraft.

Solaseed Air is offering a round-trip flight on January 1 for 160 people. It is a wonderful chance to experience the first sunrise of the year from the sky, and view the beautiful scenery below.

Passengers on the special first sunrise flight will gather at Haneda Airport in Tokyo at around 4:40 a.m. on Jan 1. The flight is scheduled to arrive at Miyazaki Airport at 8:30 a.m. Passengers will then visit Aoshima Jinja (shrine) for the year’s first prayer or hatsumode (another important New Year custom). That will be followed by lunch at a hotel, before heading back to Miyazaki Airport for the return trip, leaving at 1:40 p.m. and arriving in Tokyo at approximately 3:10 p.m.

The airfares are as follows:

① Window side two-seat plan (98,000 yen, tax included)

② Window side three-seat plan (137,000 yen, tax included)

③ Aisle one-seat plan (39,000 yen, tax included)

In-flight breakfast, lunch in Miyazaki and tour conductor cost are included in the price. One carry-on baggage item will be permitted.

Reservations will be accepted by phone only by calling Miyako tour desk reservations at 0985-33-9008 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
