Duke superstar Grayson Allen is drawing attention after a pair of incidents Monday night in a loss against Virginia Tech.

Allen appeared to trip one player and then at a different point in the game appeared to lightly kick a guy on the ground.

Check out the plays below and decide for yourself.

I’m about to take a very unpopular stance, but I don’t think he did anything wrong on either play. At the very least, I’d make a strong argument that both plays might have been accidents.

The major problem with Grayson Allen at this point is that nobody buys that it’s ever an accident when he trips or kicks somebody. That’s what happens when you have years of history clearly going after players. The trip here, in my eyes, was almost certainly an accident. He barely made contact with the guy. It was actually just really poor defense that got them caught up.

The kick in the second video is a bit of different story. I put that one at 50/50 for whether or not it was done on purpose. He clearly comes back over to the guy and initiates contact. My problem is that he barely even touches him. We all know that when Allen wants to cause problems it’s generally very clear. That light tapped kick hardly seems like he was going out of his way to harm the Va. Tech player.

Of course, I could be totally wrong on both counts. It wouldn’t be surprising if both of these were done on purpose.
