Its treble tops for Tullibardine at spirits awards

A whisky is celebrating after it netted a hat-trick at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.

Tullibardine has been awarded three medals at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, with two of its aged finishes – 20 Years Old and 25 Years Old – and Tullibardine Sovereign recognised for excellent quality at the esteemed awards ceremony.

Awarded 93 points by judges at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, Tullibardine 20 Years Old was given the coveted Excellent, Highland Recommended status in the Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky category.

This mature whisky, aged in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, impressed judges with its deep flavours of golden grain, ripe pear and toffee pastry, as well as its seamless palate and the way the spirit filled the mouth with sublime tones of baked barley and lemon preserve.

The second Tullibardine whisky credited with an Excellent, Highly Recommended status and awarded 92 points in the Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky category was Tullibardine 25 Years Old.

Matured for a minimum of 25 years in ex-sherry hogshead barrels, the judges admired this complex whisky and its aromas of honey glazed pecans, oak barrel and toasted brioche, followed by orange marmalade, roasted grain and butter pastry flavours on its delightfully long finish.

The final whisky from the portfolio to be recognised within the same category was Tullibardines signature single malt, Tullibardine Sovereign, given 86 points and qualifying with a Very Good, Strong Recommendation.

The judges enjoyed the creamy malt, with its pears, sugar plums, golden honey, orange blossom and jasmine on the nose, followed by honey-baked pears and orange pith mingling with a wisp of smoke and delicate spice on the palate.

John Torrance, distillery manager at Tullibardine Distillery said: Were very proud that three of Tullibardines whiskies have been recognised at this years Ultimate Spirits Challenge. Its a great reflection of the outstanding taste profile, craftsmanship and quality of our whisky.

2018 is set to be a very exciting year for the Tullibardine brand and to be acknowledged with such a respected award is a huge honour and is only a taste for whats set to come.
