George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said Monday that former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper “most certainly did lie to Congress.”

WATCH:

A new congressional report alleges that Clapper lied when he told them he didnt leak information to the media while he was in government. Turley explained on Fox News that Clapper has been caught lying to Congress before but was not indicted, adding that the statute of limitations expired not long before he took his job at CNN.

“Theres a serious issue here,” Turley said. “Clappers already admitted that he did speak with CNN, now he is insisting he didnt speak to any media until January 20, but he indicated he did speak to CNN in early January.”

Turley also argued that Clapper could have been one of the “high level officials” responsible for getting CNN their “news hook” regarding the dossier, stating, “if one of those individuals is Clapper…then he could be accused again of perjury.”
