Heres Tom Bradys Interesting Take On Sinking NFL Ratings
Its no secret that NFL ratings have been in something of a free fall over the last two seasons. Advertisers spoke out, anthem protests ran amok and entire networks have grown increasingly political since Trumps 2016 victory.
But New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady doesnt think the politicization of the NFL has anything to do with its slipping ratings.
Speaking with CBS Sports, Brady conjectured that it simply has to do with other distractions. Basically, theres too much else out there.
“Theres so much for us to consume, I mean, as we all know, theres so much happening,” he said.
“I hate to say it: I dont follow it like I used to, because, so many other things to follow,” he continued. “And its just what can grab your attention, theres a lot more competition today than theres ever been, I think, especially with social media, for people to consume information or to consume content. The NFL has had a great product, people love watching the game and I think its still doing better than every other program out there, but compared to a time when there was less things to do, it doesnt live up to those standards.”
Asked whether he believed Colin Kaepernick has anything to do with the drop in popularity, Brady simply stated that he deserved to have his voice heard.
“You have to have respect for everybodys opinion,” he said. “The way that they want to present themselves and the opportunity that they have to make a difference. We all have an opportunity to make a difference in our own way and people are going to use those opportunities how they see fit.”
Tom Brady might think everybodys voice should be heard but NFL fans might feel a little differently. This is America after all, so anyone is entitled to speak his or her mind, but that doesnt mean everybody else has to hear it. And it certainly doesnt seem like theyre too keen on hearing Kaepernick.
