3 Police Officers Hospitalized After Finding Dead Body In Motel Room

Three Georgia police officers were hospitalized after being sickened by chemical fumes when they discovered a dead body in a motel Saturday.

Police were called to the United Inn & Suites in Decatur after receiving reports of a dead body found in a room. The three DeKalb County police officers entered the room and reportedly began to feel sick, with symptoms of nausea and dizziness, Fox News reported.

The officers were taken to a local hospital after breathing in the chemicals, which left a 48-year-old man dead in the motel room. FBI and HAZMAT crews responded to the scene and discovered the chemical to be a mix of household cleaners, according to FOX5 Atlanta.

The name of the deceased man has not yet been released. The cause of death is unclear, but authorities are not ruling it as a homicide. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. (RELATED: Police Officer Hospitalized After Overdosing From Fentanyl Exposure During Bust)
