Fashion and celebrity world reacts to designer Kate Spade's death

World-renowned designer Kate Spade has died today after a suspected suicide.

The 55-year-old was reported to have been found hanged in her home in Park Avenue, New York.

The immensely successful and widely respected designer launched her New York-based design company Kate Spade handbags in the early 1990s along with her husband Andy.

As the nation fell in love with the quirky designs, the couple expanded their business, moving into clothing, jewellery, shoes, stationery, eyewear, baby items, fragrances, tabletop, bedding, and gifts.

Kates former publicist Rob Shuter told Metro.co.uk: She was kind. She was decent and above all, she taught everyone around her to be nice. We are heartbroken.

High profile figures such as Chelsea Clinton, Josh Groban, Rosie ODonnell, and many others have shared tributes online to the designer.

Chelsea Clinton shared a touching anecdotal message on Twitter, recalling the moment she received her first Kate Spade bag, as a gift from her grandmother.

My grandmother gave me my first Kate Spade bag when I was in college. I still have it. Holding Kates family, friends and loved ones in my heart.

Fashion designer Liz Lange called Kate the nicest woman, thanking her for her support with her own maternity line.

Fellow designer Kenneth Cole was also inspired by Kates work ethic and tweeted about her influence.

American actress, Beth Behrs who plays Caroline Channing on CBSs Two Broke Girls posted a tweet calling Kates death heart-wrenching and passed on her thoughts to Kates family.

Santa Clarita Diet and Steps actress Cara Satana also took to Twitter to share her condolences, saying that her vibrant legacy will live on.

Patti Murin who plays Princess Anna in the Disney musical Frozen said it was devastating to hear about the designers untimely death.

While mourning the sudden death, many also tweeted Kates brother-in-law, actor and comedian David Spade, star of Grown Ups, Rules of Engagement, and Saturday Night Live.

American comedian, actress and author Rosie ODonnell sent David a message of condolence.

Singer Josh Groban used the moment to talk about the importance of talking to someone about depression and mental health, sharing a suicide prevention line.
