The United States is the third most dangerous country in the world in terms of sexual violence toward women, according to 548 womens rights experts polled by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Women in the U.S. are more prone to falling victim to rape as a weapon of war, rape by a stranger and domestic rape than women in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mexico and Somalia, according to the experts.

The womens rights experts also placed America as the sixth most dangerous country in the world for women in terms of non-sexual violence, ahead of seventh-place Saudi Arabia, a country that prohibits women from making major decisions without male permission, wear clothes that “show off their beauty” and interact with men theyre not related to.

The #MeToo and Times Up campaigns against sexual harassment and violence are what put the U.S. as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for women, according to the Thomson Reuters Foundation. (RELATED: MSNBC Commentators Make Bill Clintons Response To #MeToo Movement About Trump)

“People want to think income means youre protected from misogyny, and sadly thats not the case,” said Cindy Southworth of the National Network to End Domestic Violence, according to Thomson Reuters. “We are going to look back and see this as a very powerful tipping point … Were blowing the lid off and saying #Metoo and Times Up.”

While the U.S. didnt place in the top 10 categories for womens issues in healthcare, discrimination, cultural traditions and human trafficking, Americas high ranking in the sexual violence and non-sexual violence categories placed it as the 10th most dangerous nation overall for women.

Coming in as the most dangerous country for women is India, where an average of 100 sexual assaults are reported to the police every day, according to CNN.

The survey involved 548 womens rights experts spread across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific interviewed online, on the telephone and in person. The rankings and results were produced in collaboration with a team of data scientists at the Thomson Reuters Labs.

However, when asked for the detailed methodology used to come up with their findings, the Thomson Reuters Foundation provided The Daily Caller News Foundation with this document, which shows nothing more than the public-facing results of their survey.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation also told TheDCNF it is only releasing the top 10 rankings for each category surveyed, and refused to release the full country rankings generated by its survey.
