Kids and vegetables dont generally mix.

Persuading your children to eat enough greens can be a constant and demoralising battle.

Once they wise up to the parsnips-in-the-mash-potato trick, youre basically screwed.

But one mum is using her artistic talents to devise inventive ways to make healthy food seem much more appealing for her little ones.

The 35-year-old mum-of-two uses colourful fruit and veg to create incredibly realistic cartoon characters for her kids meals. And the results are just stunning.

He just loves it, Laleh explains.

Seeing his expression when he sees the creation is what makes it worth it.

For those of us who barely made it through GCSE art, the thought of replicating these creations seems daunting, but Laleh is adamant that theyre not too complicated.

It doesnt take long – it is all in the preparation – for example I make all the cold elements like the features and clothing, whilst the hot elements like mash potato and pasta sauce are cooking. Then it is just a quick plate up.

We like to buy fresh produce so our fridge is quite colourful so it doesnt cost us anymore than a normal meal.

So if your kid straight up refuses to eat anything thats even remotely green, then your best option might be to brush up on your artistic skills.
