But when you’re gluten-free, a lot of staple winter dishes can seem out of the question.
There’s nothing more depressing than watching your dining partner tuck into a hearty pie and gravy while your only option is yet another salad.
Luckily for us, there are lots of brands now putting pies back on the menu.
Whether you’re picking one up at your supermarket shop to dining out, here’s our guide to the gluten-free pies you need to try this winter.
1. Hotch Potch gluten-free savoury pies
Hotch Potch create handmade, gluten-free pies in a completely gluten-free facility in Devon.
Flavours include chicken and tarragon, bacon and blue cheese and spicy bean.
They also create yummy gluten-free scotch eggs in festive flavours such as cranberry and camembert.

Not only are their pies organic and Soil Association approved, there are also several gluten-free and vegan options; such as minty chickpea and French Cassoulet.
3. Warren’s gluten-free pasties
Long established Cornish pasty chain Warren’s have recently launched two coeliac friendly additions to their famous pasties.
You can pick up the gluten-free version in two flavours: cheese and onion and steak.
4. Genius gluten-free pie
Located in the freezer aisle of most supermarkets, these Genius gluten-free pies are perfect to have on hand on a cold winter’s night.
They can be cooked from frozen for lazy evenings and come in either steak or chicken gravy flavour.
The best thing is they come in packs of two, leaving you plenty of leftovers.
5. Asda Free From Pork Pie
The perfect addition to a Christmas buffet: these pork pies from Asda are one of the few gluten-free pork pies available on the market.
British pie maker Pieminister sells three different gluten-free pies (steak, chicken and ham, and goat’s cheese and sweet potato).
Despite being gluten-free, the golden flaky pastry is almost identical to the regular pies in their range.
You can pick them up in Ocado or find them on the menu of one of the many Pieminister restaurants and cafes.
7. Green King pubs
Is there anything better than a Sunday afternoon in the pub with pie, mash and a beer in hand?
Green King has launched a gluten-free steak and IPA pie which was developed with students at Nottingham University.
Their pubs also Skinny Beer, a gluten-free option which is also vegan and has around 30% fewer calories than other the usual choice.
8. Young Vegans
