Panthers Interim GM Hurney Reinstated After Investigation Turns Up Nothing

The Carolina Panthers’ interim general manager Marty Hurney has been reinstated following an investigation into potential violations of the NFL conduct policy, the team announced Friday.
Hurney was put on administrative leave on Feb. 5, three days after his wife filed for a temporary restraining order against him. She accused her husband of harassment. The judge denied the request after finding no evidence of such events.
With the investigation turning up empty, Hurney is expected to remain a candidate for the full-time general manager position while the team interviews other options as well.
Other candidates that have been interviewed for the opening include Buffalo Bills assistant college scouting director Lake Dawson, Houston Texans assistant general manager Jimmy Raye III and San Francisco 49ers senior personnel executive Martin Mayhew.
Knowing that the NFL Combine, Draft, and free agency are rapidly approaching, Carolina will probably look to fill the vacancy as soon as possible.
The Panthers franchise has been mired by scandal and scrutiny following the accusations of racial and sexual inappropriate behavior by owner Jerry Richardson. Richardson has decided to sell the team after the revelations during the offseason but the sale has yet to take place.
