Marcos Alonso claims Antonio Conte‘s criticism has provided Chelsea‘s under-fire players with extra motivation ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Roma.
Chelsea’s defence of the Premier League was left in tatters following defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend and, according to reports, Conte read the riot act after the Eagles scored their first goals and enjoyed a first win of the season at Selhurst Park.
Conte claimed not one of his players had a good game against Roy Hodgson’s side but Alonso insists the criticism was justified.

‘I think its the truth, it wasn’t our best game on Saturday, it’s a good call from him to motivate us and to make us work hard to change things form the last performance,’ he said.
‘Football is a sport that changes very quickly, tomorrow is a good chance to do a good performance and build up from tomorrow.
‘As I said, things didn’t go very well on Saturday, we had enough chances to win the game but it wasn’t a good enough performance from the team.
‘The only solution is to work hard and to win the next game.’
