What the actual f***, Nando’s.

Just as I was praising you for being veggie heaven, and gratefully lapping up the news that you have introduced two new vegan-friendly items to your menu, I have discovered that you have stabbed me in the back with a PERi salted knife.

Today Nando’s announced that they had launched two new veggie options, a Supergreen Burger and a Sweet Potato & Butternut Burger.

What the neglected to mention, however, was the fact that these new options would replace the classic veggie burger/pitta/wrap we have long known and loved.

While the beanie burger remains on the menu, the veggie patty has disappeared from the Nando’s site.

A quick scroll through the Nando’s Twitter account confirms the news. The veggie patty is being scrapped.

It's been replaced by a couple of beauts though Karishma, why not give one of them a try.

We have Joe. You'll love the newbies on the menu though, trust us.

I. Am. Devastated.

A veggie pitta has been my go-to since I first started going to Nando’s. It’s my all time favourite veggie fast food item.

Nando’s, you have disappointed a long-term fan today.

More: Vegan

And I’m not alone – a petition calling on Nando’s to bring back the burger has already received more than 204 signatures.

We’ve reached out to Nando’s to ask why they have betrayed us (and to beg them to bring back the original, classic veggie burger), and will update this story if we hear back.

RIP, veggie pitta. RIP.
