Eden Hazard admits he is unsure why Antonio Conte decided to bring him off in the final stages of Chelsea’s draw with Roma on Wednesday evening.

The Belgium international scored twice in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge, but with 10 minutes to go, the forward was replaced by Willian.

The decision did not go down well with some sections of Chelsea fans, who have criticised Willian for his form in recent games.

And when asked about the decision, Hazard conceded that he was unclear about Conte’s reason.

‘I don’t know, I don’t know. I think sometimes the manager wants me on the bench at the end of the game,’ he said.

‘I pushed to the maximum, I’ve just come back from the injury, so he made his choice.

‘Sometimes the guy who comes on the pitch scores the goal, so I have nothing to say about this.’
