Despite what you may see on Twitter, Andrea Pirlo is not dead.
The former Brescia, Reggina and Inter midfielder, however, has called time on his glorious career, which also included spells at Milan, Juventus and 116 games for Italy.
Pirlo, 38, has spent the last two years at New York City FC, but before his move to America he was regarded as one of the greatest midfielders who ever played.
He won six Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies and two Champions Leagues.
