Broadcom offers to buy Qualcomm in $130bn deal
Communications chipmaker Broadcom Ltd has offered to buy smartphone chip supplier Qualcomm Inc in a $130bn (£99bn) deal.
If it goes ahead it would be the biggest technology acquisition ever.
A merger would combine two of the largest makers of wireless communications chips for mobile phones into a tech goliath.
Broadcom has offered to buy Qualcomm for $70 per share in a cash and stock deal that values the company at a total of $103bn.
Including debt the deal will cost Broadcom $130bn.
