The scouts from the Premier League behemoths will have been impressed with what they saw.
Max, a former Bayern Munich youth team player, was outstanding for Augsburg as they drew 1-1 with Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga.
So impressive has he been this season he’s understood to be pushing for a place in the Germany squad for this summer’s World Cup. In 15 Bundesliga appearances he’s provided seven assists and scored a goal.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on a new left-back, with Jose Mourinho wanting an upgrade on his current options and Antonio Conte keen to provide Marcos Alonso with more competition.
