Eddie Hearn has claimed it is currently impossible to make a fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

The British public are desperate to see the two heavyweights go toe-to-toe and hopes were raised when Fury came to an agreement with Ukad over a back-dated two-year ban.

Fury is now free to apply for a new boxing licence, but Hearn has issued a swift reality check to those fans dreaming of a showdown between Joshua and Fury in 2018.

‘This fight is un-makeable. It’s not even as if we’re within five per cent, ten, 15, 20 per cent maybe (of agreeing),’ Hearn admitted.

‘Fury is a voluntary challenger for all these titles but also has a lot of value in the fight, let’s make that clear.

‘But at the moment, we shouldn’t even be considering this fight until we see if he can do something rather than just talk about it.

‘Because that’s all I see, someone who has 6st to go and talks a good game but let’s actually see him back in the ring.’

Fury has insisted he wants 60 per cent of the revenue and has several other demands as well as the right to walk out second.

Joshua is the IBF and WBA (Super) champion and would be given all the usual benefits including rule over the ring walk.

There is also the issue of who would own the broadcast rights with Fury at BT Sport and Joshua under the umbrella of Sky Sports.

And Hearn has ruled out the idea of a joint-broadcast agreement.

‘Fury doesn’t want the AJ fight yet, he knows deep down he will get mauled by Anthony Joshua if they fight now,’ he said.

‘I rate Fury, he’s tough to beat, awkward, he’s not exciting but he’s a messer and he’s skilful. But you can’t compete with AJ coming back after that period (out).’
