Chelsea ready to recall Vitesse loanee Mason Mount in January window
Chelsea are ready to recall midfielder Mason Mount from his loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem and he could even be involved in the Blues’ first team, according to reports.
The England Under-19 international is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players to come through Chelsea’s prolific academy.
However, he has only started five Eredivisie matches so far this season, despite coming into the reckoning more recently, and The Sun now report that Chelsea will bring him back to Stamford Bridge early.
The Premier League champions are said to be ‘upset’ with his overall lack of starts, and the club do not feel he has received the regular exposure to first-team football they had hoped for.
He had to wait until the very end of November to make his first Eredivisie start having impressed in the Europa League.

He has now started five straight games, only one of which Vitesse managed to win despite Mount’s goal and assist, but gave a poor showing in Saturday’s defeat to PSV.
When Mount returns to Chelsea, manager Antonio Conte will decide whether to loan him out again or keep him around the first team like Ethan Ampadu.
Chelsea have a horde of players on loan at the moment, with many fans feeling that the likes of Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek – on loan at Swansea and Crystal Palace respectively – should be part of Conte’s squad.
Chelsea only have a handful of options in central midfield, and have had to deal with a number of injury problems, with the 18-year-old Mount potentially providing useful cover.
