Redding Gun Store Manager: Californians Will Find Ways Around ‘Tyrannical’ Gun Controls
byAWR Hawkins24 Dec 20170
Jones Fort manager Patrick Jones suggests that the January 1, 2018, effective date for new ammunition controls in California will be complimented by residents determined to get around “tyrannical” gun controls.
Jones Fort is located in Redding, California.
On December 12, 2017, Breitbart News reported that California’s war on guns would be broadening to a war on ammunition beginning January 1. That translates into a ban on purchasing ammunition outside the state by a requiring that all ammo must be purchased from a licensed California dealer. Moreover, any ammunition ordered online must be sent to a licensed dealer within the state and the buyer then pays a processing fee when he picks it up.
In other words, the supply of ammunition shrinks by state mandate beginning January 1, thereby driving up the cost, and in some cases a processing fee for sales is added, thereby driving the cost even higher.
Pat Jones singled out the law requiring that residents purchase all their ammunition in California, saying, “It’s a tyrannical law and they simply will not do it.”
The Record Searchlight reports Jones’ conviction that Californians will simply buy their ammunition out-of-state at a lower cost, then drive across the state line.
Rich Howell manages Olde West Gun & Loan in Redding and he predicts a similar response to the requirement that AR-15s with “bullet buttons” be registered with the state. He pointed out that there are numerous ways to legally circumvent the registration requirement and he expects California gun owners will do just that.
He said state lawmakers “can pass all the laws they want, and I can guarantee you we are going to find a way around them.”
