Manchester United on alert as Cristiano Ronaldo promises to ‘fight’ to leave Real Madrid in £89m transfer
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo wants the club to lower his valuation to approximately £89m so the likes of Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain can realistically buy him this summer.
The Portugal international is reportedly no longer on speaking terms with Madrid president Florentino Perez and wants to leave the Bernabeu after eight years in the Spanish capital.
Ronaldo believes Perez has backtracked on a promise to increase his salary after a stunning year in Madrid that has seen Ronaldo guide the club to a La Liga, Champions League and FIFA World Club Cup treble.
Madrid believe the five-year contract they handed to Ronaldo in November 2016 is reflective of his status as the club’s biggest player but Ronaldo wants parity with Neymar and Lionel Messi – who have since signed larger deals.

Ronaldo’s release clause stands at £887m – meaning the only way he could leave Madrid is at the end of his contract. However, he’s told the club that he wants his valuation to be lowered to closer to £89m so that clubs can come in for him, according to the Daily Record.
The report claims Ronaldo’s representatives have told both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain that the forward will ‘fight’ to leave the Bernabeu this summer and he hopes to negotiate an exit.
United have long been linked with a move for Ronaldo and the Portugese superstar was keen on a return in 2013 before Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

The 32-year-old was awarded his fifth Balon d’Or award earlier this month to crown an incredible year.
As well as club and international success, Ronaldo scored 53 goals in 60 appearances across all competitions.
