President Trump Will Attend College Football National Championship Game, Anti-Trump Kendrick Lamar Is the Halftime Act
Citing two sources withing the administration, USA Today has confirmed that President Trump will attend Monday night’s national championship game between Alabama and Georgia.
According to USA Today, the two sources didn’t speak publicly because the president’s schedule has not been made official.
Politically Georgia, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s politics blog, was first to report the news Wednesday.
The game will be held at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
According to USA Today:
The president and First Lady Melania Trump are expected to be guests of Nick and Jamie Ayers. Nick Ayers is chief of staff for Vice President Mike Pence and a native of Georgia.
Trump – who last year said any NFL player who kneeled during the national anthem should be fired, sparking a lengthy controversy around the league – also will welcome the World Series champion Houston Astros to the White House on a future date.
During the presidential election, Trump carried both Alabama and Georgia. Last month, Alabama voted Doug Jones into the U.S. Senate, eschewing Trump’s endorsement of Ray Moore.
Alabama dismantled defending champion Clemson in the Sugar Bowl and Georgia beat Oklahoma in double overtime in the Rose Bowl to qualify for the championship game.
In addition to the game, another thing to keep an eye on will be the halftime show. Kendrick Lamar will be the halftime performer; the R&B artist also has a song called “Heart Part 4,” in which he takes a shot at President Trump.
The song’s lyrics read: “Donald Trump is a chump/ Know how we feel punk/ Tell ’em that God comin’/ And Russia need a replay button/ Y’all up to something.”
Will Lamar choose that song, now that he knows Trump will be in attendance?
