Anthony Martial doubtful for Manchester United’s clash with Stoke City
Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is likely to miss his side’s clash with Stoke City at Old Trafford after picking up a knock in training.
United spent last week in Dubai at a mid-season training camp and Martial participated in every session.
Jose Mourinho‘s men can cut Manchester City’s lead at the top of the table to 12 points with a win against the Potters, who are yet to appoint a new manager after sacking Mark Hughes.
However, the Reds could be without the Frenchman for the game at the Theatre of Dreams after Mourinho confirmed he was struggling for fitness.
‘When asked if everyone was available barring the long-term absentees, Mourinho replied: ‘Martial not really but I hope he can play’.
United are believed to be closing in on a deal for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez after City cooled their interest in the Chilean.
Sanchez, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season and is desperate to leave the Emirates.
