HBO recently dropped a new trailer for Al Pacino’s upcoming movie “Paterno.”
The plot of the movie, according to IMDB, is, “The film centers on Joe Paterno, who, after becoming the winningest coach in college football history, is embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal, challenging his legacy and forcing him to face questions of institutional failure regarding the victims.”
This movie should be fascinating, and I love the fact Pacino is playing Paterno. It’s shocking how similar the two look.
It’ll be interesting to see how HBO covers this subject, given the fact it’s one of the biggest scandals in the history of American sports. Jerry Sandusky is a monster who brutally victimized young boys. He will serve out the rest of his days in a prison cell, which is exactly where he belongs.
I remember watching ESPN the night Paterno got fired and riots broke out. It was unbelievable that the students reacted like that. It’s still not known what Paterno did or didn’t know about the whole situation, but head coaches don’t keep their jobs when they employ a monster.
The trailer paints the picture that Paterno had absolutely no clue. We can find out if that’s truly the angle HBO takes when “Paterno” is released April 7.
