Stephen A. Smith Destroys Kaepernick-Jackie Robinson Comparisons
Colin Kaepernick is a lot of things, but the next Jackie Robinson is not one of them.
Thats at least according to ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith, who took the former 49ers quarterback down on an episode of “First Take” this week.
For a little background, Kaepernick tweeted out a photo of the baseball legend this weekend accompanied with a quote about the national anthem.
The excerpt, taken from a passage in Robinsons autobiography “I Never Had It Made,” reads, “I cannot stand and sing the anthem. I cannot salute the flag; I know that I am a black man in a white world.”

But Stephen A. Smith was not happy with Kaepernick drawing a comparison between the two black athletes.
“I will say this,” Smith said on Monday. “We going to put a stop to all this stuff for those out there who try to martyr him to the point where you think for one second that you think that he needs to be mentioned in the same sentence as Jackie Robinson. You better pump them damn brakes.” Later, Smith added, “He is not comparable to the great Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson was the man that was responsible for integrating the sport of major league baseball. Jackie Robinson was coming up in a time where we were devoid of civil rights.”
Although he may have upset some staunch Kaepernick loyalists, Stephen A is right. Colin Kaepernick is a race baiting rabble rouser whos trying to blame the NFL for his lack of talent.
Jackie Robinson was a legitimate baseball wiz who deserved as much fame and recognition as he got — likely more. Robinson worked to unite America and bring a divided nation together. Kaepernick is working to divide us. Its as simple as that.
