It cant be easy getting all glammed up a mere seven hours after pushing out a human into the world.

But Kate Middleton was a picture of style and elegance as she stepped out of the private Lindo wing of St Marys Hospital in Paddington in London.

And you cant ignore the quiet homage to Princess Diana who wore a very similar dress shortly after giving birth to Prince Harry in 1984.

Kate, 36, wore a bespoke red dress from British designer Jenny Packham, that featured a Peter Pan collar. Her late mother-in-law Princess Diana also wore a red and white ensemble, sporting a frock with a long scarlet jacket by Jan van Velden.

The colours were fitting for St Georges Day.

It wasnt just the outfit that was on point, Kates perfect wind-proof blowout and glam also looked the part.

The signature bouncy do, with a loose curl at the bottom was most likely thanks to her stylist Amanda Cook Tucker whos often seen travelling with the Royal family.

But clearly shes not just any hairstylist as its reported that Amanda was the second person, bar the doctor, to meet Prince George when he was born back in 2013.

Jenny Packham must be a family favourite as Kate also wore bespoke blue polka dot number after Georges birth and then a yellow silk floral shift dress and nude Stuart Weitzman heels after she gave birth to Princess Charlotte, all made by the same designer.

If youre wondering why the Duchess of Cambridge paid homage to Dis outfit for Harrys birth and not William, dont worry, she had it covered with the birth of Prince George.

Kate wore a pale blue polka dot dress that had similarities to Princess Dianas gown for the birth of Prince William. Naturally, the former dress sold out within hours.

While she famously did her own makeup for her wedding to William (kudos to her), for the post-birth event its likely she had some help.

Arabella Preston, a London-based makeup artist linked to the Royals, may have led the glam team.

The post-birth look featured strong, defined brows, dark eyeliner, a subtle hint of blush, and a pinkish nude lip gloss.

Accessories were kept to a minimum, with simple pearl earrings and sans bracelets and a watch.

She completed the look with with classic nude court shoes, $940 (£673), by Gianvito Rossi.

If you fell in love with Kates bespoke shift dress, then Harrods have a similarly styled A-line frock that might be for you. The Maje Embellished Collar Shift Dress, costing £209, has a white collar and is sleeveless.

The playful 60s shift silhouette outfit has all the air of elegance as Kate.

While we might only dream of looking as bright eyed and majestic as the Duchess after being in labour, this dress might just be a start to achieve the royal look.
