ACC Coaches Want To Expand The March Madness Field

ACC coaches apparently want to expand the March Madness field to 72 teams, according to Brett McMurphy.

McMurphy recently tweeted, “ACC basketball coaches recommend NCAA tourney to expand from 68 to 72 teams, widen the lane [and] move [the] 3-point line back. They do not favor changing from halves to four quarters.”

I cant even begin to tell you how bad of an idea this is. We should not be expanding the field for any reason. I could even argue right now that we should go back to the format a few years ago before we had 68 teams.

What we certainly shouldnt do is make the field bigger. The whole point is that you should make it difficult to make the tournament. How does widening the field make the tournament better? (SLIDESHOW: BALLER BABES: THESE GORGEOUS WOMEN LOVE BASKETBALL)

Sure, you get some more games, but will the quality be better? I doubt it. I seriously doubt it. Im going to go ahead and take a very hard pass on this awful suggestion.

Leave it at 68 and dont touch it. Anybody who disagrees shouldnt be allowed anywhere near college basketball. Dont mess with what we have. Just let us enjoy it.
