AB de Villiers takes unreal ‘Spider-Man’ catch in IPL

Is there nothing that AB de Villiers can't do on a cricket field?

De Villiers pulled off a stunning catch in the Indian Premier League — which has already seen its fair share of blockbuster pouches on the boundary rope this season.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore fielder saved a six in spectacular fashion as he dismissed Hyderabad's dangerous Englishman Alex Hales, who looked to slog Moeen Ali over the midwicket fence.

But the South African phenom intervened in superhero fashion, snaffling the shot one-handed in mid-air, metres away from gawping spectators.

Royal Challengers skipper Virat Kohli was delirious, racing to his fielder while roaring in triumph.

"AB's catch was Spider-Man stuff, you don't do that as normal human beings," Kohli said afterwards.

De Villiers played the humble card, insisting he was a bit fortunate.

"I made it look tougher than it was. It curved away late, luckily it stuck. I got into a bad position," he said.

Earlier, de Villiers had starred with the bat, scoring 69 as Bangalore raced to 6-218.

Hyderabad was in the game right until the end, but fell short in the final over to finish on 3-204 in a 14-run loss.

Back in April, New Zealand's Trent Boult took what was hailed as one of the all-time great cricket catches, taking a one-handed leap to dismiss Kohli.

The Dehli Daredevils paceman prevented a six, leaping backwards to take an aerial hanger before stopping himself dead centimetres from the boundary rope.
