Greg Inglis to plead guilty to speeding and drink-driving charges
Greg Inglis will plead guilty to speeding and drink-driving charges, which cost him his Kangaroos captaincy, according to his lawyer.
The NRL star was due to face Lithgow Local Court this morning after he was charged with speeding and mid-range drink-driving last month.
He was travelling back from the Koori Knockout in Dubbo when he was pulled over by police.
He was stripped of his Kangaroo captaincy and was handed a two-game suspension.
His lawyer Jordan James told the court Inglis was unable to attend court after having keyhole surgery.
"He's has surgery on his shoulder and his neck and is recovering," Mr Jordan said.
Mr Jordan told media outside court Inglis would enter a guilty plea when he reappears in a Sydney court in January.
"He is extremely remorseful and he takes responsibility for what he has done, and he will be entering a plea in January in Sydney," he said.
"He does consider himself to be a role model and he hopes that if he accepts full responsibility he will be able to continue as a role model."
Inglis will appear in Sydney's Downing Centre Court on January 14.
