Trump Considering Ex-Michigan Senate Candidate John James For UN Ambassador

Iraq War veteran John James lost his bid to become a U.S. Senator from Michigan on election day — but he may not be done with politics just yet.
President Donald Trump is considering the veteran and Michigan businessman as a replacement for departing U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, according to multiple reports.
James ran a competitive race against Sen. Debbie Stabenow in Michigan, losing by a six-point margin in the blue-leaning state. Trump won the state — a shock too many political commentators — in the 2016 presidential election.

According to Bloomberg, James was at the White House speaking with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Vice President Mike Pence about a possible administration post.

“Hes now among the people Trump is considering to replace Haley, the former South Carolina governor who said in October she would resign by the end of the year, the people said,” according to the report. “James is an Iraq War veteran who is president of closely held James Group International, a supply-chain management firm based in Detroit. Other people Trumps considered for the United Nations job include the U.S. ambassadors to France, Germany and Canada.”
