Renshaw takes Test frustration out with triple ton in grade cricket

Australian Test discard Matthew Renshaw has taken out his frustration at non-selection for the series with India by slamming a record 345 in Queensland Premier cricket for Toombul in Brisbane.

Renshaw's triple ton from 273 balls featured 38 boundaries and a dozen sixes as he plundered the Wynnum-Manly first-grade attack at Oxenham Park on Saturday as Toombul amassed 4-550 after batting first in the two-day game.

The 22-year-old opener, who has played 11 Tests — his last against South Africa in Johannesburg in March — eclipsed the previous competition record set by former Queensland opener Wade Townsend, who made 311 not out for Toombul in 2009-10.
Renshaw, who suffered his latest concussion while fielding for Australia in a warm-up game for the two-Test series with Pakistan in the UAE in September, was the last Toombul batsman dismissed.
Sam Rowley also contributed a comparatively pedestrian 90 from 211 balls.
The huge knock takes Renshaw's grade tally to 611 runs from four innings at an average of 203.7.
Unfortunately for the 22-year-old left-hander, he has averaged only 19.75 in eight innings in this year's Sheffield Shield competition, with his highest score an 89 against Western Australia at the Gabba.
Selectors have opted for Victoria's Marcus Harris instead at the top of the order, on the back of his strong start to the Shield season with an average of 62.63, highlighted by an unbeaten 250 against New South Wales.
The four-Test series against India will open at Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
Renshaw will have another chance to put his case to selectors fora return to the Australian squad when Queensland takes on Tasmania in a Sheffield Shield match at Bellerive Oval starting on Friday.
