Papa Johns creates Marmite and cheese scrolls for some reason

Its a truth universally know that you either love or hate Marmite. But how do you feel about cheese?

Unless youre lactose tolerant, there really is no reason to not like the stuff. With that in mind, Papa Johns has decided to combine the two, bringing together cheese scrolls with the most ambivalent condiment, Marmite.

Folks in Australia have been enjoying cheese scrolls all these years using Vegemite swirls. Now Papa Johns has brought the snack to the UK but replaced the Australian spread with Marmite.

The combo snack has been well-received Down Under and will soon be available across the UK with its own twist.

The part pizza and part pastry hybrid – with Marmite swirled on top of Papa Johns dough base – will be covered with cheese, rolled up and baked.

Were excited to be the first to launch this delicious dish on our menu in the UK and given its popularity in Australia, were confident UK customers are going to love them too, said Liz Williams, managing director for Papa Johns.

To celebrate the arrival of the Marmite and cheese scrolls, Papa Johns will be sharing a month-long offer that includes a large pizza, Marmite and cheese scrolls and one other side plus a bottle of Pepsi all for £18.99.

The scrolls will be available nationwide from 2 January to 3 February 2019. You can order online and directly via your local Papa Johns restaurant.

If youre not keen on Marmite which is made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing, then you might want to get into it soon.

Previous research reported by Metro.co.uk revealed that Marmite could not only reduce the risk of miscarriage and birth defects for pregnant women, it could also relieve stress and anxiety.

The study, from the University of Victoria, Australia, found that spreads fortified with vitamin B12, such as Marmite, were found to be more effective in reducing stress and anxiety.

So maybe its time to give it a go? On top of some cheese scrolls, at least.
