The president is asking Congress to pass a spending bill that includes $5.7 billion in funding for the wall, but Democratic leaders say they will not agree to any bill that includes such funding.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi confirmed in an interview last week, “Nothing for the wall. Were talking about border security.”
Trump is now trying to entice Democrats to vote for a package that includes funding for steel slats rather than a concrete wall, humanitarian aid, and additional border agents.
Trump last visited the border in March of 2018 when he viewed wall prototypes in California. (RELATED: Immigration Experts Explain What An Effective Border Wall Actually Looks Like)
Sanders said additional details about Trumps trip are forthcoming.
