Spectrum of the Seas named in Shanghai ceremony

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL) has officially named its first-ever Quantum Ultra-Class ship Spectrum of the Seas at a ceremony in Shanghai.

The 4,905-passenger ship, which has been specially designed for the Chinese market, will be based in Shanghai after completing a 46-night Global Odyssey cruise.

Spectrum includes the lines first private “enclave”, called the Suite Club, for passengers staying in suites, as well as new cabin categories and innovative restaurant “concepts” among its 33 dining options.

RCCLs president and chief executive Michael Bayley said the ceremony showed “how far weve come since we first opened our first office in Shanghai in 2009”.

“The team will push us through in our journey to deliver incredible holidays on Spectrum of the Seas,” he added.

“Its the 26th ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet and in a class of her own, literally. With her arrival we will continue to innovate in this market.
