Grandiosa is due to be christened in Hamburg on 9 November. It will be the sixth MSC vessel to feature MSC for Me, which operates via a wristband costing €4.99.

The upgrades to the technology are designed to aid pre-cruise planning and to help guests make the most of their time onboard.

Guests can now select drinks and speciality restaurant packages or shore excursions at a discounted rate before they join ships.

They can also pre-register their credit card through the app prior to boarding. A €15 supplement buys the Friends and Family Locator, which enables guests to keep track of travelling companions.

This is in addition to the €18 Kids Locator service introduced in 2017, where parents can keep track of their children onboard by seeing their location.

Similarly, MSC for Me Chat means guests can now message each other directly through the MSC for Me app, without the need for an internet package.
