Continuing its phased reopening plan, Burger King has revealed that another eight restaurants will reopen across England and Scotland this week, including its first Drive Thru location.
The Havant Drive Thru is the first to reopen since the lockdown, marking a huge step for the brand as it navigates the pandemic crisis.
The other restaurants are all opening for delivery only, following the news of Burger King reopening four restaurants earlier this month.
The move has clearly proven successful as the burger chain continues to get businesses back up and running around the country.
Customers wont have long to wait for a location to open near them either, as Burger King has also announced it will reopen one restaurant in every city by 31st May.
The food giant said it plans to open a further 12 restaurants over the next few weeks.
The branches that are opening are providing food via delivery services only, with working hours just in the afternoons.
Restaurants will be open from 12pm – 11pm, and customers will be able to place their orders via Deliveroo and Just Eat.
The decision to reopen its Drive Thru in Havant is part of a trial in order to see if the brand can open more of them in the coming weeks.
Havant customers can either order via Just Eat or Deliveroo for delivery, or they can place their orders via the Drive Thru.
Safety measures have been taken to protect Burger King staff as the business reopens its doors.
Staff have been given additional PPE such as masks and gloves, and all deliveries will be contactless as drivers keep their distance from customers by stepping back once theyve left the food at customers doors.
All staff have been trained according to the governments social distancing measures too, with strict cleaning schedules in place to keep hygiene at its best.
Burger King regulars will notice that the full menu isnt available just yet, but fan favourites such as the Chicken Royale and Whopper will all be available to order.
Katie Evans, Marketing Director at Burger King UK commented: We are so pleased to be able to open more restaurants across the UK this week, including our first restaurant for customer Drive Thru – which is a huge step forward.”
The restaurant chain will also continue to donate meals to staff working at NHS hospitals local to the reopened stores as a way of saying thank you to the nations key workers on the frontline.
